Questions and Answers:Q. What is cold laser therapy?A. Cold laser therapy provides clients with a safe, effective and painless therapy that uses the body's own natural healing systems to relieve pain, increase joint mobility, increase tissue integrity and promote cell regeneration.Q. How does cold laser therapy work?A. Cold laser works by supplying energy to the body in the form of billions of photons of light. The body absorbs the laser light on a cellular level and transforms it into chemical energy, which the body then uses to commence its own tissue repairs. The bio-stimulating effect of cold laser therapy causes a decrease of inflammation and pain and promotes an increase in tissue regeneration and healing.*Benefits of cold laser therapy include the fact that it is drug free, non-toxic, non-invasive, extremely safe and virtually painless, easy to apply with no side effects, cost effective and has a 90% efficacy for clients.Q. Why should I use cold laser therapy?A. Simple answer is, "Time is Money." When your equine athlete requires time off it can become costly. Muscle and tendon strains, joint sprains and wounds are common injuries in equine athletes. Equine tissue, like human tissue, is highly vulnerable to repetitive stress and can be career limiting for the athlete if not treated properly for the first time. Depending on the injury, the equine athlete can return to competition usually within a few weeks instead of many months of stall rest. This means that your equine athlete can be back to competing in a fraction of the time!FYI:*Biological Effects of cold laser therapy include rapid cell growth, faster wound healing, increase metabolic activity, reduction of fibrous tissue formation, anti-inflammatory, increased vascular activity and stimulated nerve function.*Keeping our equine athletes at top peak performance or maintaining the soundness of our retired grand-champions is always a challenge and the use of cold laser therapy for Preventative, Maintenance and Rehabilitation programs has aided in that success of not only keeping our horses sound and pain-free but many, many trips to the Podium and Winners Circle.*Popular Laser Treatable Conditions: muscle soreness and fatigue, back pain, knee pain/inflammation, bone spurs, buck shins, suspensory, foot bruise, sesamoiditis, side bone, navicular, jacks, hocks, cervical pain, fetlocks, stifles, splints, woundcare, post-surgical benefits and much more....*To learn more about the technology of cold laser therapy or review clinical studies and research go to: www.theralase.com for more information. Biological Effects
The benefits of using therapeutic Cold Laser Therapy over traditional treatment options:
1. RAPID CELL GROWTH - accelerates cellular reproduction and growth.
2. FASTER WOUND HEALING - stimulates fibroblast development and accelerates collagen synthesis in damaged tissue.
3. INCREASE METABOLIC ACTIVITY - higher outputs of specific enzymes, great oxygen and nutrient loads for blood cells, production of ATP and ability to remove waste products.
4. REDUCE FIBROUS TISSUE FORMATION - reduces scar tissue and allows reabsorption of fibrotic tissue during remodeling phase of healing.
5. ANTI-IMFLAMMATORY - reduced swelling and increases joint mobility.
6. INCREASE VASCULAR ACTIVITY - induces temporary vasodilation, increasing blood flow to damaged areas and removal of waste products.
7. STIMULATED NERVE FUNCTION - speeds process of nerve cell reconnection.

A little about Me....
M.J. Pappin-Lamoureux, Kinesiologist/ HBK, BSc.
Born in Sudbury, Ontario and having the benefit of living in Chicago, Cleveland, Thunder Bay, St. Louis and Toronto making my way back to Northern Ontario getting married and raising a family has truly become full-circle for me personally and professionally. A love for horses was instilled at a young age spending quality father-daughter time at the racetrack. My father, Jim Pappin (a former NHL all-star and two time Stanley Cup Champion) and avid horse owner would spend his off season roaming the backstretch of any racetrack in North America and I would happily tag along for the ride. As a young child and through my teenage years I rode hunter/jumpers and well into university and adulthood this passion continues.
I have an Honour Kinesiology degree from Lakehead University and a Bachelor of Science from Logan Chiropractic. While I have spent most of my professional career in medical sales, the last four years have been dedicated to my children and to our race stable. My husband, Mike Lamoureux is a third generation horsemen and races standardbreds in Ontario.
With over 15 years experience around horses and my academic science background, I've combined this knowledge with opportunity and experience, treating our equine athletes with cold laser therapy which we have found to be an immeasurable asset in our race stable.
Keeping our equine athletes at top peak performance is always a challenge and the use of cold laser therapy for preventative, maintenance and rehabilitation programs has aided in that success of not only keeping our horses sound and pain-free but many, many trips to the Winner's Circle.
I treat all horses as if they were my own and only with the very best in Theralase Cold Laser Therapy technology. For more information about Cold Laser Therapy or to book a session for your equine athlete call PERFORMANCE HORSE COLD LASER THERAPY at 705.929.2589.
